Sometimes just reframing the situation makes everything better.
I lived without a car for many years, and had to adjust my lifestyle a little for that. It was a huge bonus actually. PT is cheaper and abundant where I live. The downsides weren't actually negatives at all once I gave it a go.
Our current car might last another decade, with any luck, but when the time comes to upgrade we won't let the absence of an electrical outlet block our path.
