I think Susan B. Anthony made some good arguments in the 1800's, but the politicians saw an opportunity in second-wave feminism.
Here's a brief AI summary of the book that popularized modern feminism:
"The Feminine Mystique is a 1963 book by Betty Friedan that explores the dissatisfaction of women in post-World War II America, challenging the belief that fulfillment comes solely from being a housewife and mother. It is credited with sparking the second-wave feminist movement by highlighting the need for women to seek education and careers beyond traditional roles."
These ideas were developed while the dollar still had ties to gold when nobody thought about debasement. They became politicized in the 70's just before the Nixon Shock. People in the Fiat Matrix still argue over the wage gap, but these arguments developed when a family making $6,200 could live a middle-class lifestyle.
The real wage gap was caused by the debasement. $6,200 = $65,075.93 today according to the official CPI calculator. I think these numbers are bullshit, but that's another story. The rhetoric was that women should have more opportunities, but that was not the reality. The result: Men and Women need to work just to keep up with the debasement. Men and women both suffer from the real temporal-based wage gap.
I would never say women should never work or that they can't pursue financial independence, but that's not the real glass ceiling. I would love to stay home and write while my Roomba does the mopping. I did it for a while, but that's not possible anymore, not without spending more sats I feel comfortable with anyway. I know families who are struggling with both parents working. Teenagers are picking up jobs just to make ends meet. That's the real problem.
The debasement/double spending problem is the elephant in the room. Even those who accept that household duties should be more equitable no longer have that option because men and women must both work in most households.
The arguments from 50 years ago don't make much sense in the fiat matrix. I think that's one reason why the cultural war shifted to trans stuff. Don't like the wage gap? Just switch your gender. Problem solved, but that's not the real problem: The double spending problem is the biggest problem of modernity.
