>Jesus says go to the Gentiles in Acts
What you're saying makes perfect sense, were it the case that 'Gentile' is a word Jesus used.
Neither that word nor any equivalent exists in the Latin text; it does not exist in Greek; it does not exist in Hebrew.
The Latin word that has been twisted only since the 1400s--'Gentilis'--means 'of a nation' or 'nation'. (This is the etymology of the English 'gentleman' (man of the nation) or French 'gens' (meaning 'people' or 'nation') or Spanish 'gente' (meaning 'people' or 'nation')).
The Judeans even use the word to describe themselves to Christ, when he asks them whether he should help a centurion. They tell Christ that he has been good to there nation. (Luke 7:5)
It is the same word used of the *nation* of Israel.
It is used throughout *all secular Latin text* to mean exactly 'nation'.
The earliest translation from the Latin word into a new English word with a new meaning occurred in the 1400s (by guess whose influence).
Even the Greek word from which the Latin translates is 'ethnos'. This too means 'nation'. English's 'ethnicity' comes from the word.
Abraham was promised by God that *nations* would come of his seed.
The Israelite nation was first. The Assyrians scattered the northern tribes, and then the Babylonians scattered the southern tribes. (The Old Testament tells this.) So did God lie? Where were the nations promised?
Israelites were scattered--as Isaiah says.
Paul is not the apostle to the "Gentiles". He is the apostle to the nations--which is why he says "our twelve tribes" when talking to Romans in his epistle to the Romans.
Christ came as a revelation of light for the nations, as it says in Luke. Not a "light of revelation to the [made up Gentiles]." God didn't just change plans.
No one here is calling you a liar. You've just been taught by the church / air waves what jews have slowly twisted the teaching into--one that favors them by implementing a special word that focuses on them--just as maybe your or my boomer parents and grandparents will swear the dollar is how money has always been.
