Indian immigrants tend to accept Republican rhetoric about "illegal" vs "legal" immigration, despite it being a flimsy excuse for racial hatred and xenophobia that vanishes as soon as they want to target legal Haitian immigrants, or anyone else. Suddenly, legality doesn't matter.
I'm old enough to remember the early 2000s when brown people were kicked off planes and south Asian tech workers were hated for taking "our" jobs. Being "legal" or not doesn't matter to the people who hate you.
