David has some great points there. I think more than anything though computing was just more fun in those days. Revisiting them today with the benefits of unparalleled access to information about those retro systems, ready availability of entire software libraries for those same computers, and modern hardware conveniences that remove the worst pain points of the original experience only adds to the fun now even more.
