I think we can do better than the word regime though.
Regime means to rule. This is not entirely wrong, but it isn't as nuanced as I'd like it to be.
The nature of regimes is that they claim the authority over geographic lands and administer how and who are allowed to have grip. Those who gains allowance has to feed the regime through vessles.
Through vessels, the regime can feed itself and maintain.
