I worked in central gov as a civil servant for many years, until about 2018.
Not a scientific study but my observation is that the civil service likes to showcase statistics about its diversity.
But looks closer and you can see stratification in the seniority levels.
The senior civil service was far far from diverse - especially on "class" ~ "economic background".
