I've got a thing to do that involves driving ~6 stepper motors at any one time. Not continuous, they're all static for most of the time. However, when they move they'd probably all have to move at the same time.
To save power consumption and copper I'm thinking about clocking the driver chips all at a slightly different phased clock.
Tell me this is a bad idea.
