It's been beautiful to watch all the different clients compete with each other. It's like a good horse race, one pulls ahead for a week and then one in the back implements something, or makes a nice design tweak and takes the lead. Snort is ahead of the pack for me at the moment.
Due to the open nature, monopolies will become much less likely since there is no penalty to switch between clients/platforms.
