#WordWeavers 4. Is there writing advice you used to follow but changed your mind?
"Avoid adjectives and adverbs and strip out all that imagery. Just say what happened."
This was advice given to me by someone I thought had my best interests in mind. He wanted me to write like a news report and for a while I tried.
...and I hated it. Because who I am writing for? Me. And what does me like? Vibrant imagery and thick, flowing prose.
Now I'm learning to balance after a bit of an overcorrect, haha
