Oh bleh: it turns out Dog’s atypical nocturnal wandering was because he wanted to throw up.
On the plus side, he did it on a vaguely dog-sick-coloured bit of carpet* and it was basically a pretty dry pile of short, yellow stick-like bits more akin to an owl pellet than anything else.
*which is why I didn’t notice it without my glasses on
(This is, in hindsight, my fault: I pruned the big kales yesterday and gave him the pruning to chew on. I guess they were too woody, which I will remember for next time.)
