Like this has literally been an ongoing issue and discussion in the LGBTQ+ community for a very long time, along with issues around misogyny/femmephobia, and is literally why queer exists as a community for those of us who don't fit (and don't want to fit) into mainstream gender and sexual binaries quite as neatly. Queer is intersectional, Gay is not necessarily (unfortunately, otherwise Peter Thiel would be bankrolling us!) Also, being gay, lesbian or bisexual doesn't magically remove or negate the privileges of gender, race and economic status, it's not a license to be racist or sexist with impunity! In fact, it comes with an added responsibility to deconstruct bigotry within oneself (and, no, fetishizing other people isn't it either).
