I'm not certain, but I think I noticed a change on X of how replies are displayed. It used to be a more straight forward algo of people you follow and chronology, but has shifted to more algo-based now; prioritizing blue checks and who knows what else, now seeing replies from accounts I don't follow near the top, regardless of time stamp.
I always browse notes AND replies on NOSTR. Most convos seem to happen there for me, and it's been useful for finding good npubs.
