Insulting someone isn't a "crime" ... In the USA. But part of respecting the self-determination and liberty of others is capitulating that your ideals and local laws are not necessarily their ideals and local laws.
People are going to have to get used to this real fast if they want to live peacefully in a rich, pluralistic world free from centralized hegemons.
Imposing your "better" beliefs onto other people is not how you get a freer world. its very obviously the opposite.
