quoting⚡️🚨 NEWS - Bitcoin developer Agustin Cruz has published a draft Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP) entitled "Quantum-Resistant Address Migration Protocol (QRAMP)", proposing to force users to migrate their BTC from old addresses vulnerable to quantum attacks to quantum-resistant wallets via a hard fork.

Fearing an attack by quantum computers, Bitcoin's developers have already begun coding a hard fork.
For context, Bitcoin's ECDSA digital signature algorithm secures UTXO. Unfortunately, ECDSSA cannot defend against an advanced quantum attack.
If QRAMP were to gain consensus and be activated, a countdown would begin. At the end of this, Bitcoin Core would refuse any transactions from these old wallets.
It's important to note that the proposal would modify the BTC offer.
Once the deadline had passed, it would refuse transactions from the old UTXO wallets.
This is why QRAMP is so controversial.
