Filters - proper sieves - are such a great, never-implemented idea! But why not?
I keep almost posting a whiney rant I wrote about how utterly tired I am with Mastodon, b/c of The Eternal (Twitter-migration) September and how political content is practically unavoidable there now. It's exacerbated by the strong pressure to boost content.
A negative filter would do the trick, although most people probably wouldn't label their stuff well.
