A German man named Frank Borner has been exposed as a fraud who pretended to be a Jew and gave talks about his fake Holocaust story.
He claimed to be part of a program called “Meet a Jew” that aims to educate non-Jews about Jewish life, but the Central Council of Jews in Germany denied any affiliation with him. He also made antisemitic remarks during his presentations, such as saying that New York and Hollywood are “full of Jews, firmly in Jewish hands”.
He was outed by a Jewish journalist who attended one of his talks and noticed inconsistencies and inaccuracies in his story. Borner did not admit his deception, but instead quoted a biblical verse and accused other Jews of preying on him. He is one of several cases of “costume Jews” who have falsely claimed a Jewish identity in Germany, where Jewishness is often seen as a source of fascination or controversy1
