Read all of the Asimov Robot stories, starting with Foundation decades ago. I do not recall enough to compare the books to the show, but do recall the overall themes - and frankly it makes it more enjoyable to watch when you don’t recall the book details.
Agree - the finale was very good, even if it felt like it was deviating from canon (gut feeling?).
