I'm just so thoroughly disappointed with people.
I knew they were a bunch of self delusional retards before this all happened, and I often felt bad for being so cynical. But this event revealed to me that I was being overly optimistic about the nature of people.
Since then, I've come to the conclusion that people need to be allowed to experience the consequences of their actions because they squander every alternative opportunity to learn and avoid suffering.
I've personally redirected my physical and emotional energy into doing things to insulate myself from the inevitable fallout of these damn fools learning hard lessons, and helping people who actively seek a better way, and want help.
