As the former CEO of coinos.io, no information has been sold, or leaked, no one has been locked out of their accounts or rug-pulled, in over 10 years. While technically possible in the future, this is why I suggest for small amounts -- amounts you're willing to lose, anything more than that and move it to a non-custodial service.
This is a lot better than trying to convince non-technical users how to run their own lightning node, and less risk/exposure to them than if they try to do this themselves without privacy & security technical knowledge on top of simply running their own node. Technical purity is for the privileged and does not address the digital divide.
