The CPI of Rio Melchior held its 4th ordinary meeting on Thursday (08) with a new composition. The commission approved 38 requests that will guide its actions from now on. The committee now has Iolando (MDB) as the rapporteur, replacing the missing Daniel Donizet (MDB), and Jaqueline Silva (MDB) as a substitute deputy for Hermeto (MDB). The president, Paula Belmonte (Cidadania), emphasized the intention to promote a "proactive and technical" CPI and stated that she will make every effort to deliver a solution to the pollution suffered by Melchior. Iolando, representing the government party, pointed out that the Buriti government is committed to contributing to the CPI's success. "As the leader of the MDB block, I can guarantee that, from the first moment, the DF government was solicited to contribute to improving the quality of Melchior River and the population of DF, as well as facilitating all possible explanations of what is happening in the river," he declared. Vice President Joaquim Roriz Neto (PL) stated that the CPI is extremely necessary. "We see the photos and reports and realize we cannot turn a blind eye to a situation so critical," he said. Morro da Cruz (PRD) also assured that he will work to contribute to the CPI's effectiveness. "I will give my contribution. The environment is a top priority," he emphasized. During the deliberation, the president and government-backed deputies disagreed on the approval of some requests on the agenda. Roriz Neto and the rapporteur proposed suspending the convocation of government agency representatives, Termonorte company representatives, and regional administrators. The district deputies argued that they intend to conduct technical visits to the site to better understand the situation of the river before proceeding with the convocations.
