actually, it's like an dns. the name after the @ will be replaced by the public key of the user you selected to mention. the clients automaticly check the pubKey for the user and displays its (current) name. so it's also possible that you mentionend 'jack', and tommorow your event shows 'jacky' because he changed his alias. the pubkey stays the same, so your mention stays correct.... was this even nearly helpful? 😅
