So much of the Fire Emblem Awakening/Fates experience for me involved spotpass and streetpass. I brought my 3DS around with me and I really loved getting pinged that somebody else was playing too and seeing them in my castle.
It really was a singular moment in time that can't be recreated. There's no online support or fanservers for emulation. It's just ... gone forever. Engage will be the same soon. So much of a game's soul is lost with the shutdown of online services ...
