I now have been on Mastodon for one year, and it has been great! I am hopeful that decentralization and federation will create a space where my content will be less likely to be censored (#pornapocalypse).
One thing that has taken some time to get used to: not being able to reject/delete comments on my posts/images. I am used to the Flickr model, where I am the owner of the gallery and can moderate comments, so it has taken some time to get used to this model.
