What you are doing is pretending not to understand how English works. It is an attempt to deflect away from the point.

“Known” in this context would mean widely accepted. It was clear from in the original statement that, that is what was meant by it.

It is not widely accepted that Julian Assange is a rapist. There has not been a conviction, and I think there are enough people out there who believe the case was fabricated to say it isn’t widely accepted
