At my last job, I was, over the course of 14 years, net negative by over 1MLOC on all my checkins. I think I was the only one on the team who consistently removed more code than I added, but towards the end, that was actually one of my goals, and I nailed that one in my performance reviews. It helped that I could showed improved compile times after many of my checkins.\n\nSo “you” in general might not be able to pay it off, but I sure tried.",
