When I report someone, I want to know whether the post I encountered is a one-off or part of a pattern. If it is a single occurrence for someone who has a long history of posting good material otherwise, I might be inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt.
If the person has a history of posting hateful or inappropriate content, then I'll know it's a good idea to follow through with the report. This has been most useful when I find posts containing nudity or pornography without a content wrapper.
But the majority of my reports have been spammers (most likely spambots). Seeing that pattern in those has been extremely helpful in recognizing them.
