Honestly? We were played just like the folks were telling us we were being in the 70s and 80s. We wanted to believe that it was just fiscal prudence and a desire to "Conserve" things, when it was about preserving the profit and determining who was allowed to sit where at the table - or if they were allowed to be seated at all.
First Nations, Black and Brown folks, LGTBQIA+ folks, all of them have been warning us for decades and we just didn't want to see it.
Since Harper, I think more folks started to see it, because they didn't care if they hid it anymore as it was delivered from the sneering faces of Harper, Del Mastro and Poilievre.
