90%+ of people advocating for a shift to decentralized free software have not thought through what it would mean for them to get what they're asking for.
I'm not saying the result would be bad. I'm saying the result would be a radically different internet user experiences; I'm saying we would lose a lot of things we currently value, & that a lot of the people currently advocating for that brave new world would think the result was bad.
