Here’s your regular reminder that the only real function of a third-party candidate in a winner-takes-all election system (like the one we have in the US for Federal elections) is to SPOIL a major-party candidate.
A third-party candidate’s job is not to win—it is obviously impossible for them to do so—but to DIVERT VOTES AWAY from the major-party candidate that is closest to you in policy and values, and thus reduce that major party’s chances of winning.
In other words, voting for a third party candidate is mathematically equivalent to voting for the major party you DISLIKE MORE.
And as always, follow the money for the third candidate. You’ll find your answers there.
