Yay on the mom thing. That is so great that you are able to know her still. Parents are sometimes fleeting depending on the family.
I kind of feel bad for your brother. (Not really) Imagine living a life so simple, so sheltered, so unimaginative and uncreative, that spending time with extending family would cause a mental health issue.
I'm so glad you weren't born with such weakness of mind and spirit. Perhaps he'll grow up someday, but if he doesn't, that's his failure, not yours.
