I don't use telegram channels, but telegram is handy because you can text and voice call other Telegram users as long as you have access to WiFi.
Also, there are SO MANY messaging clients now, getting someone to install and use a new one is a fucking pain in the ass.
Also, the default Telegram chat IS NOT encrypted. You have to specify encrypted chats.
Adam should really **try** something at least once before he talks about it.
