In 1993, the military dictatorship in #Nigeria was losing its grip on power, and so they organised an election between a stooge and a man named MKO Abiola.
It was the first election of my life, and so I went and voted.
... for the stooge.
Abiola won, and so the military annulled the election and threw him into jail where he later died.
My kids will grow up and one day say: "Dad, I'm sure you voted for Abiola."
I fully intend to lie to them.
