Hmm… I’m not against advertising as such, seems like an OK thing to have in principle, and as a proportion of the total economy that's very small. What’s depressing is that Google (& FB) get to take home such a high proportion of it. A lot of publishing business models were advertising based and that seemed to work OK back in the day… no longer.
