If the US Federal Government can't protect women and minorities from unelected dictators, and it can't get Donald Trump behind bars, and even Trump's political opponents side with him in the key conception of a ruling class that reserves for itself the monopoly of violence against the people, then maybe the US Federal Government doesn't deserve to exist.
