Egalitarianism is just one branch of leftist thought. The only basis for saying leftist ideas belong together at all, though, is really what they are not.
What makes people right-wing is a simple set of ideas along the lines of "might makes right" and "old makes virtuous." You cannot be deceived by them unless you are demented enough to deny that ill-gotten gain exists or to believe that repeating a crime over and over makes it less of a crime.
Leftist ideas are a bit of a polyglot.
