Well, I've ended up on a list for the politics of the maintainer, which is doubly ironic because I support the politics and would want to ingest the list (TL;DR).
Long story short, it's a real problem, albeit not a major one IMHO.
It'd be easily mitigated as well if you can make exceptions (like e.g. pihole does).
As an adjacent suggestion, one could use a web of trust mechanism. Sign the list, but sign individual contributions by who makes them. Place trust in signatures.
