If you just joined Nostr for the very first time and created your public key on the Damus app, let me tell you what you're missing.
We have something called Zaps here on Nostr. Zaps are part of the value for value economy we're building here. Zaps allow us to tip, send a donation, pay creators, or provide valuable feedback to users for their notes. Recently, Apple decided that Zaps were too powerful and they wanted their 30% cut, deeming Zaps as paying for digital content. Apple made
jb55 (npub1xts…kk5s) remove Zaps from notes on Damus.
The jokes on Apple though, we hit 1 million Zaps during this whole debacle and Damus users can still Zap - with a little bit of work.
Zaps are alive and well on Nostr thanks to Nostr's open and decentralized manner. Dozens of other clients exist across Android, iOS, desktop, and the web, allowing Zaps to continue to flourish. It's beautiful.
Damus is a great app and
jb55 (npub1xts…kk5s) is a fantastic developer. He's not down and not out. He has more planned for Nostr in the coming future. 🤙
Until then, I encourage you to check out other clients, apps, or Zap people by visiting their profiles and tapping on the ⚡ icon.
