Did you know that you can mute people for defined periods of time (on Mastodon; not sure about other systems).
So if someone is tooting a lot, in a limited period of time, about something you don't care about, and isn't using hashtags to help filtering, you can mute them for 24 hours, or longer.
After that, they are automatically unmuted and back in your feed.
Very useful when it comes to sportsball.
You do this from the user's profile: mute the user, then configure the mute options.
