One of the biggest concerns with safety on pedi, is the amount of harassment and blackmailing that can happen. Do not be fully trusting of others with sensitive/private information, yours or someone else’s. No one needs to know things like your exact age, who else you talk to, your other accounts, etc. Here are some general behaviors to be weary of;
Overly friendly behavior, very quick to share their own personal information, especially if they use that to say you should share yours in return to be “fair” (did you even ask them to share theirs?).
General guilt tripping behaviors, such as imolying you don’t care about them whenever you need time alone, to more extreme things such as suicide baiting.
“No limits”/lacking their own boundries. You start to be more at risk of accidentally making them feel abused, if you yourself aren’t great at communication to make up for theirs. If you’re exploring things, you CAN suddenly have a limit mid way, and should say so if you do.
Self destructive and explosive behaviors, especially if it’s frequently unpredictiable.
It’s important to note that sometimes abusive behaviors can be unintentional, that doesn’t mean certain behaviors should be tolerated if they make you uncomfortable and/or threaten your safety. Sometimes you will not be in a position to help others, that is not a failing on your part. Other times, someone may have to stop being given chances in order to realize how seriously their behavior is effecting others. You personally not being able to help, doesn’t mean others can’t help instead. Your safety and personal mental health matters just as much as theirs.
