You think any population could ever exist without a practice and means of defending itself? You think a bunch of agrarians in a rich river valley would just roll over and accept being ruled by a warlike invading neighbor? Even social animals have a ruling hierarchy and structured defense against attackers. The notion that states were created by invaders is pure nonsense.
