I had a horrible dream last night.

I was walking Dog and got distracted when another dog walker let his dog off lead, and when I looked around Dog was gone.

I kept walking, thinking he was up ahead, and met several other dog walkers coming towards me. I was worried how Dog would cope with seeing so many strange dogs, but I was relieved that they were all uninjured.

Eventually, I saw Dog up ahead and after a lot of calling and coaxing he came close. His coat was dull and dirty, and one of his eyes was sunken and blind.

When I got some treats out, he eventually came close enough for me to catch hold of his collar, and the skin underneath was all cracked and raw.

Then I woke up and cuddled him, but it was still a horrible dream.
