Not inflation, but higher prices. There is a subtle difference.
When there's no domestic alternative, tariffs are effectively a national sales tax on certain things.
Theoretically it's an incentive for people to start businesses in the US, but in reality there's too much bureaucracy, so it's actually just an incentive for multi-trillion dollar companies to move factories to the US and import slaves as H1Bs.
