My avatar is a statue of Maimonides. I’m reminded he was forced to flee Spain because of hatred. I’m reminded of my grandparents who were forced to flee Egypt and Syria because of hatred. I’m reminded of horrors ancient, recent, and current, caused by one side or another. I will not apologize for my heritage or my feelings. I had some hope that we could have serious conversations about these things. That hope is perhaps misplaced. The horrors continue. But I will continue to hope for peace.
