I fully support the right of #FOSS authors to work however they want, but this is very hostile to potential users/contributors.
If this was just sitting there on GitHub then I wouldn't bother commenting, but it's a package published in the official package manager for the language in question. I want to say this is borderline malpractice.
(No, this isn't going to get squashed or anything; the main branch looks like this too.)
