I'll also say that they did a much better job than Bethesda at portraying the Brotherhood of Steel, which is particularly important since the TV series is set in the same area as Fallout 1/2/NV. They're not evil, but they're definitely not the good guys Fallout 3/4 made them out to be either.
NCR is the closest thing the franchise has to "the good guys", but of course they have their own flaws.
Speaking of factions, the show sets up Vault-Tec as the "anti-faction faction" which is funny.
