Bread and Circuses on Nostr: Although a few climate scientists still won't admit it, most will say they are ...
Although a few climate scientists still won't admit it, most will say they are stunned, shocked, and frightened by how quickly climate breakdown is accelerating.
What worries them most is the speed at which our oceans are warming. The immense amount of heat energy that such a change requires is almost incomprehensible.
From a news story about the State of the Climate report...

Ocean heat reached its highest level in the 65 years it's been recorded, with the WMO's analysis showing a strong increase in the past two decades.
The report found on an average day in 2023, nearly one third of the global ocean was gripped by a marine heatwave, harming vital ecosystems and food systems. Towards the end of 2023, over 90% of the ocean had experienced heatwave conditions at some point during the year.
That heating is expected to continue, with the report stating it could be "irreversible on scales of hundreds to thousands of years."
