I think it's possible that a mistake was made with regard to how we talk about "victim blaming".
The prototypical example is "don't blame a victim of assault based on how they were dressed, it's not their fault". And that's an unalloyed truth.
I worry that we've allowed that same logic to be invoked in cases where it doesn't apply.
Example, if I go jogging at night in full camouflage, and I get hit by a car, that's 100% my fault, not the driver's.
