people often talk about how the Lisa/Macintosh was inspired by the ALTO, and while this is true,the Mac did a LOT in terms of refinement
Some of this may be modern bias since the Mac UI hasn't changed since, but you simply cannot sit down in front of a Xerox and start using it like you can with an Apple.(i tried to use an alto and failed lol)
It is far more than a simple copy.
it honestly reminds me more of early X environments with it's focus on smalltalk and an unobtrusive desktop metaphor.
