This industrialization has been in place for years, but the market got absolutely flooded when the silicon valley / FAANG (or MAMAA now?) major layoffs happened a couple years ago.
And you may say, "of course if you lay off thousands of IT pros / Engineers on the west coast, and there is a lot of remote work, the market will be flooded and IT wages will go down"...
